Keanu Reeves is revving up for a new adventure as a professional race car driver. On October 5, the Hollywood icon made his racing debut at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, taking control of a striking red Toyota GR Cup car. During the race, he climbed as high as 21st place but ultimately crossed the finish line in 25th.

However, his debut was not without its hurdles. An Associated Press report notes that Reeves encountered a bit of trouble, veering off track and onto the grass at the exit of Turn 9 during the intense 45-minute race. Fortunately, he managed to steer clear of any collisions.

In the lead-up to the race, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway shared footage of Reeves zipping around the track. In the video, he was seen behind the wheel of car number 92, proudly displaying an advertisement for Boom! Studios, the comic publisher that brings his own comic series, “BRZRKR,” to life. Additionally, he garnered support from the German tire manufacturer Continental.

This recent foray into racing isn’t Reeves’ first brush with the motorsport world. Back in 2009, he participated in the celebrity race at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, where he clinched a victory.

Beyond his illustrious film career, Reeves has diversified his pursuits. He played a pivotal role in creating and supervising the “BRZRKR” comic series and even co-wrote a novel set in that universe, which hit shelves earlier this year. In 2023, he reunited with his longtime band Dogstar, taking on the role of bassist, and he also owns a motorcycle company.

In terms of sports, this summer, Reeves made headlines by signing a one-day contract with a Canadian junior hockey team, a nod to his youthful aspirations in the sport. Interestingly, he once shared in a Reddit AMA that during his decade in Los Angeles, he participated in weekly street hockey games.

While Reeves is best known for his acting, he’s expanding his horizons. He provided his voice to a key character in the critically acclaimed video game “Cyberpunk 2077” and is set to star alongside Alex Winter in the upcoming Broadway production of “Waiting for Godot.”
