In a recent press conference before the Shanghai Masters, Jannik Sinner spoke out about the appeal launched by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) concerning his case. WADA has challenged a ruling by the International Tennis Integrity Agency, which found that Sinner bore “no fault or negligence” regarding two positive tests for clostebol, a banned anabolic steroid, which he claims was the result of contamination from a cream used on a cut.

When asked about WADA’s decision, the world No. 1 expressed his surprise but reiterated his readiness to cooperate fully, just as he has in previous dealings. “I feel very confident about a positive outcome,” Sinner remarked, adding that he would be “very surprised” if the outcome were otherwise. He is preparing to compete against Japan’s Taro Daniel in the first round on Saturday.
