The “Pritzker Estate,” owned by billionaire Tony Pritzker, son of the co-founder of Hyatt Hotels and valued at $4.1 billion, has recently hit the market with a staggering asking price of $195 million. This property is not only one of the largest homes in the United States but also ranks as one of the most expensive.

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, if the Pritzker Estate sells for its listed price, it will break records for the most expensive residential sale in Los Angeles. The current record is held by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who purchased the Warner Estate for $165 million in 2020.

The listing comes on the heels of a tumultuous divorce battle between Pritzker and his ex-wife, philanthropist Jeanne Pritzker. Property records indicate that the couple originally bought a Beverly Hills residence, built in 1938, for $9.5 million in 2001. They later acquired several adjacent parcels of land, with one set of lots selling for $14.7 million in 2005. After consolidating the land, they set about constructing a new home designed by the late architect Ed Tuttle, a stunning example of contemporary luxury in Los Angeles. The couple moved into the new residence in 2011 but separated in 2022. According to court records, their divorce was finalized in May 2024.

Situated on a six-acre hilltop in Beverly Crest, the Pritzker Estate boasts unparalleled views that stretch from downtown Los Angeles to the ocean, showcasing the entire Los Angeles basin. Entering this masterful estate via a long private driveway, visitors are greeted by a structure composed of steel, glass, and limestone, with accommodations for 80 to 100 vehicles.

This approximately 50,000-square-foot mansion features Italian-imported white limestone facades, 16 bedrooms, 27 bathrooms, and 18 fireplaces. An expansive open courtyard, complete with a fountain, surrounds the home. The grand foyer is flooded with natural light reminiscent of I.M. Pei’s iconic glass pyramid at the Louvre. High ceilings throughout create a gallery-like space ideal for displaying art, complemented by elegant living and dining areas, a library, a gourmet kitchen, a family entertainment room, a cinema, a game room, a bowling alley, a wellness center, a gym, and a wine cellar.

The lower level houses a floral preparation room and a soundproof bowling alley. There’s also a theater outfitted with velvet curtains, stage lighting, tiered seating, and a screening room. The kitchen boasts three Gaggenau ovens, two stainless steel sinks, and a service elevator.

The outdoor landscape is just as impressive, featuring a 75-foot-long green marble infinity pool that overlooks the city, along with an outdoor kitchen equipped with two grills, a large pizza oven, and a swimsuit dryer. Lush lawns, pathways, and gardens enhance the natural beauty of the estate. Additionally, there is a two-story guesthouse with two bedrooms and a separate apartment for visitors.

The Pritzkers are well-regarded philanthropists, and this estate has been specifically designed for hosting large charitable events, complete with extensive underground parking. Real estate agent Rayni Williams praises the property, stating it has one of the best views in the entire city. Stephen Shapiro from Westside Estate Agency highlights that due to current building regulations, such a mansion cannot be replicated. “You can’t build homes like this anymore,” he remarked. “This is the most perfect residence I’ve ever seen.”
