In a recent interview with TNT Sports, UFC President Dana White revealed that he has reached out to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to discuss potential improvements to the UFC rankings system, possibly by incorporating artificial intelligence.
“I could go on and on about this, but I’ll keep it brief,” White stated, acknowledging the meetings held this week to tackle the issue. “I actually talked to Mark about AI, so we’re on the way to fixing the rankings. Expect some significant changes as we head into 2025.”
White has openly criticized the current rankings system, which has been operated by a selected group of media outlets since 2013. “I just can’t handle incompetence,” he voiced earlier this month. “It’s driving me crazy. I can’t allow people who lack the necessary knowledge to manage the rankings any longer. I need to find a solution.”
Complaints regarding the rankings have been stirring, with notable examples including Max Holloway being placed below Justin Gaethje and Renato Moicano’s ranking remaining static despite his recent win over Benoit Saint Denis in September.
Additionally, it’s noteworthy that under White’s leadership, the UFC has been viewed as a sports avenue for Donald Trump’s MAGA movement, as White has been a long-time ally of the former president, even speaking at the last three Republican National Conventions.
