On September 12, the Northeast Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Australia held its 10th council meeting and charity donation ceremony in Sydney, perfectly timed with the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival. The event attracted nearly a hundred attendees, including the chamber’s president, council members, and representatives from the Northeast Chinese Youth Chamber of Commerce.

During his address, President Jiang Jianxin emphasized the chamber’s unwavering commitment to its core values of “unity, mutual assistance, pragmatism, and innovation” since its founding. He spoke of the significance of solidarity, inclusiveness, and respect for talent, which have encouraged a democratic decision-making process and nurtured many exceptional young leaders. Jiang also highlighted the chamber’s role as an organizing body for various Chinese community events, gaining support and recognition from friendly organizations and the broader community.

Secretary-General Ma Weiwei represented the secretariat and shared reflections on the past year, noting achievements in communication and brand promotion. He reiterated the secretariat’s commitment to enhancing member services and fostering collaborations with other chambers, organizations, and businesses at home and internationally to further the chamber’s global development.

Executive Vice President Zhang Meng reviewed key activities from the past year, specifically mentioning the upcoming Australia-China Consumer Goods Exhibition and the Christmas dinner. She encouraged all members to engage actively in the chamber’s initiatives to elevate its progress to new heights.

Honorary President Zhang Yaming announced the formation of the Australian Chinese Liaoning Chamber of Commerce and the Australian Chinese Heilongjiang Chamber of Commerce, appointing key leaders for both organizations. Certificates of appointment were also given to members of the Northeast Chinese General Chamber of Commerce.

Additionally, it was noted that this September, in response to a plea for help for a compatriot in Dalian facing a terminal illness, the Northeast Chinese General Chamber of Commerce collaborated with the Dream Love Charity Foundation to initiate a fundraising campaign. Impressively, nearly AUD 20,000 was raised within just a week. A donation ceremony during the meeting highlighted the chamber’s ongoing dedication to social welfare initiatives.
