On October 19, the Yunyang stage of the 2024 Three Gorges Cycling Race concluded in Chongqing. Participants competed across five categories: Men’s Elite, Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Men’s Challenge, and Women’s Challenge, tackling a challenging course that stretched for 47 kilometers and included two climbs of nearly 300 meters.
The Three Gorges Cycling Race capitalizes on the stunning natural resources of the Three Gorges area, introducing an innovative “cycling + cruise transfer” format. This multi-day race creatively links various stages, allowing competitors to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the Three Gorges even while competing, enhancing both the fun and uniqueness of the event.
Located in the northeastern part of Chongqing and at the heart of the Three Gorges Reservoir, Yunyang serves as a crucial node in the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin City Economic Circle. The race route began and ended at Moonlight Lawn, passing through Outer Ring Road, Tongde Road, and Min’an Road. Before the race, participants took part in a unique honor riding ceremony at the Zhang Fei Temple in Yunyang.
After intense competition, contestant No. 32, Hasan from the Chongqing MachMaster-incolor team, stood out as the champion of the Men’s Elite category. Hu Tiantian, contestant No. 299 from the Power Box-LME team, secured victory in the Men’s Open category, while Liu Zixin from the Chengdu High-tech team, contestant No. 311, claimed the top spot in the Women’s Open category. The champions of the Men’s and Women’s Challenge categories were Jin Zhenghong and He Yuhan, respectively.
Post-race, contestant No. 79, Li You, became the new owner of the “Legendary Jersey,” while the “Hero Jersey” remained with Hu Tiantian, and the “Women’s Jersey” was awarded to contestant No. 313, Chen Meiyi.
The 2024 Three Gorges Cycling Race spans three days and consists of three stages, starting from Wushan, passing through Yunyang, and culminating in Wanzhou, with a total race distance of 294.8 kilometers and a cycling distance of 140.8 kilometers. The final showdown will take place in Wanzhou on October 20.
