On October 19, 2024, the Asian Hall of Fame held its Annual Recognition Ceremony at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, celebrating individuals who have made significant contributions to the Asian community in America. This year, the event honored several prominent Chinese American figures, including Guo Lingming, Chairman of the Fong Lung Group, Oscar-winning actor Kuan Chiwei, and Crystal Kung Minkoff, known for her role in “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” Their achievements highlight the remarkable impact of the Chinese community across various sectors in the United States.

The event brought together over 300 Asian elite from diverse fields who gathered to celebrate the contributions and accomplishments of Asians in America. Among the distinguished attendees were the likes of comedian Huang Xi, Eva Chow, founder of KHEE Soju and ex-wife of renowned chef Zhou Yinghua, and the Shibutani siblings, Maia and Alex, who are Olympic bronze medalists in figure skating. Philanthropist Julia S. Gouw and NBA Sacramento Kings owner Raj Bhathal, along with his wife Marta, were also present to receive awards.

As a notable highlight, Brandon Tsay, a hero who disarmed a gunman, was awarded the Asian Advocacy Award, while Kieu Chinh, a veteran actress from the film “The Joy Luck Club,” received the Asian Female Entertainment Award.

Maki Hsieh, Executive Director of the Asian Hall of Fame, emphasized the importance of this year as it marks the 20th anniversary of the Hall’s establishment. Looking ahead, she expressed a commitment to work with more partners to enhance cultural literacy, trauma support, women’s leadership, and workforce development within the Asian community.

The evening was marked with a star-studded presence, including Yoshiki, the leader of the famous band X Japan, who attended to celebrate alongside friends like Eva Chow. Also in attendance were Zhang Xianghua and his wife, current awardee Kuan Chiwei’s sister Guan Meiman, and other distinguished guests.
