Recently, Inner Mongolia has issued consecutive blue alerts for cold waves as temperatures continue to drop, with nighttime lows in some areas falling below zero. As of 12:00 a.m. on October 15, the entire region officially entered the heating season with centralized heating services starting.
On the same day, the Hohhot Thermal Power Plant began supplying heat to over 120,000 households in its jurisdiction.
Typically, the heating season in most parts of Inner Mongolia lasts for six months, while colder regions may extend this period to nine months. Currently, heating companies across the region are intensifying their intelligent monitoring and inspection of heat sources, heating networks, and heating stations to ensure stable and safe heating.
In 2024, Inner Mongolia will implement a “Warmth Project” across the region. This initiative aims to enhance heating quality and ensure residents stay warm during the winter by addressing gaps in heating infrastructure, including heat source construction, pipeline renovations, and the development of smart heating systems.
At the Fengrui Park Community in the Yuquan District of Hohhot, residents are experiencing their first heating season after an upgrade to the heating system. The community, home to 1,588 residents, began its pipeline renovations in June 2024, incorporating temperature monitoring devices and balancing valves. Additionally, the community’s heating system is now connected to Hohhot’s smart heating management service platform, allowing for real-time monitoring and control of the heating equipment.
In Wuhai City, a smart heating system has been established, with new residential buildings equipped with individual heat measurement, temperature control, and heating system regulation devices. Older neighborhoods are piloting smart heating installations, enabling residents to achieve “precise heating” and “on-demand heating” directly from their mobile phones.
As of now, Inner Mongolia has completed the construction and renovation of 68 heat sources, renovated 9,791 kilometers of pipelines, updated 46,000 household heating systems, remodeled 3,064 heating stations, and completed 108 smart heating projects.
In Jilin Province, changes in temperature have prompted the initiation of heating services in some areas. Beginning October 15, cities such as Tonghua and Baicheng officially started supplying heat.
In Baicheng, heating supply commenced on the same date, and a reporter visiting an intelligent monitoring command center observed that the supply and return water temperatures at various heat exchange stations were gradually increasing.
In Tonghua, heating company staff are actively monitoring various parameters to make adjustments based on outdoor temperature fluctuations. Ahead of the heating season, Tonghua completed the renovation of 10.8 kilometers of old pipelines in 2024 and upgraded the heating systems of eight heat exchange stations.
