On the evening of October 20th, the Shanxi team secured a decisive 120-100 victory over Shenzhen in the fourth round of the new season of the Chinese Men’s Basketball Association (CBA) regular season, marking their fourth consecutive win to start the season. American player Goodwin starred for Shanxi, leading all scorers with an impressive 30 points.
In the first half of the game, Goodwin showcased his scoring prowess, racking up 24 points. Before the end of the second quarter, Shanxi went on a mini-run, scoring six unanswered points to take a 67-60 lead into halftime.
As the game progressed, Shanxi held an 86-81 lead heading into the fourth quarter and managed to extend their advantage, ultimately winning by 20 points.
After the game, Shanxi’s head coach Pan Jiang commented on the performance, saying, “Although we won, it wasn’t ideal. Our defense on the boards wasn’t great in the first half; it was the first time this season we’ve lost the rebounding battle. The team seemed a bit fatigued, but after discussing adjustments at halftime, we played much better in the second half and managed to secure the win.”
Earlier this season, on October 13, Shanxi kicked off their campaign with a 110-99 home win against Guangdong, followed by a 108-91 victory over Sichuan on October 15, and a 112-102 win against Zhejiang on October 18. This most recent victory, by double digits, keeps their winning streak alive at four games.
