On October 14th, the 13th “Tomoro Coffee” Cup Badminton Tournament concluded in Jakarta, hosted by the Indonesian Chinese Chamber of Commerce and organized by the Chamber’s Activities Committee and Construction Materials Division, with sponsorship from Tomoro Coffee. The two-day event saw 164 participants from 69 Chinese-funded enterprises in Indonesia competing for top honors in men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles.
The tournament kicked off with a serve from Chen Jialiang, the men’s doubles champion from the Sydney Olympics, who drew a large crowd of enthusiastic fans. Han Wu, the Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Chinese Chamber of Commerce and President of the Construction Materials Division, addressed the attendees on behalf of the organization. Throughout the competition, athletes displayed remarkable tenacity and impressive badminton skills.
After intense matches, the winners emerged in the four categories: the men’s singles champion was Cao Hongwei, with Fan Jiajun taking the silver and Liu Bo the bronze; in women’s singles, Xiang Baochuan claimed the title, followed by Xu Weili as the runner-up and Sun Wenfang in third place. The men’s doubles champions were Wang Lin and Sheng Qingdong, with Li Shukui and Wang Tinghe in second and Liu Jie and Wang Bo securing third. In mixed doubles, the top honors went to Dong Senlin and Lei Xiaoshan, with Guo Hansen and Wang Li taking silver, and Dai Shizhong alongside Gao Fengfeng earning bronze.
Since its establishment, the Indonesian Chinese Chamber of Commerce has successfully hosted thirteen badminton events, providing a platform for members stationed abroad to enhance their skills, promote physical health, and foster communication among one another, ultimately enriching the sports and recreational activities available to overseas workers.
