During the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol final, Li Yuehong showcased exceptional performance, hitting all 25 targets in the first five rounds. He then scored three hits in each of the final three rounds, ultimately finishing with a total of 34 hits to take the championship. At 35 years old, Li has now accumulated gold medals from the Olympics, World Championships, and World Cup Finals, and he also holds the world record for the final with 39 hits out of 40 shots.
In a post-match interview, Li expressed his satisfaction with the past three years, stating that he has won titles at all major events available to him. He shared that his future goal is to pass on his experience to younger teammates. Germany’s Peter secured the silver medal with 30 hits, while another Chinese athlete, Wang Xinjie, took home the bronze.
Chinese shooter Liu Yukun, the reigning champion of the men’s 50m rifle three positions at the Paris Olympics, was recently named the International Shooting Sport Federation’s male athlete of the year. However, he faced a tough competition today and finished in fourth place, with Hungary’s Istvan Peni claiming the gold. Meanwhile, young Chinese talent Han Jiayu earned a bronze medal in the women’s 50m rifle three positions, with Denmark’s Lykke Ibsen winning the event.
As a result, the Chinese team has now secured a total of four golds and three bronzes, positioning them at the top of the medal standings. The shotgun events will commence on the 17th.
