Nestled in the eastern part of the Tibetan Plateau and the southern region of Qinghai Province, Nangqian County is famous for its rich cultural heritage, boasting 206 items of intangible cultural heritage and earning the title of “County of Craftsmen.” The area is well-known for its abundant natural salt resources, with 29 salt springs discovered, eight of which have been developed into salt farms. The local salt industry has a long-standing history and unique characteristics, preserving traditional hand-salting techniques to this day.
Recently, international guests had the opportunity to immerse themselves in local culture. One highlight was their experience with the performance of the traditional horned Hu musical instrument. They also created educational videos at the ancient Bai Zha Salt Farm, which has been a historical salt production site for centuries.
During their visit, the guests interacted with local Tibetan communities, engaging in cultural exchanges that highlighted the rich traditions of the region. They captured the vibrant performance of the Hu Xianzi dance, showcasing the artistic expression of the local culture.
The Bai Zha Salt Farm, a significant landmark in Nangqian County, served as a backdrop for the guests as they explored the intricacies of traditional salt production techniques. At the Red Salt Cultural Experience Center, they learned more about the local salt farms and the brine pools integral to the salt-making process.
Amidst their exploration, the international guests ventured into the majestic Gal Canyon, marveling at the natural landscapes. They absorbed the captivating stories shared by Tibetan guides who brought the history and culture of the area to life. The breathtaking scenery of Gal Canyon provided a perfect canvas for photography, allowing the guests to capture the beauty and significance of this unique region.
