A 16-year-old boy from the San Ramon Valley Unified School District has been arrested and charged with felony assault after allegedly attacking a female vice principal at California High School. The district has made it clear that such behavior will not be tolerated.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the incident occurred on October 18 during the school’s homecoming dance. Reports indicate that around 8:45 PM, the vice principal approached two students in the parking lot to remind them that leaving the dance early was not allowed. An argument ensued, which escalated into a physical confrontation. One of the boys reportedly pulled the vice principal’s hair and dragged her across the parking lot.
After the assault, the two boys fled the scene. The San Ramon Police Department, responding to the report, located the assailant at his home and arrested him. He was later taken to a juvenile detention center, facing charges of felony assault and kidnapping.
The San Ramon Valley Unified School District confirmed that the accused student does not attend California High School but is enrolled in a different high school within the district. The school is set to impose appropriate disciplinary action following the investigation. The Contra Costa County District Attorney has formally charged the boy with the two offenses. The vice principal was subsequently taken to the emergency room for treatment, and the school district is cooperating with the ongoing police investigation.
