On October 25, the 2024 Wuxi-Beijing Talent Cooperation and Development Conference, along with the “Hundred Enterprises, Thousand Talents Campus Tour” special event, kicked off at Beijing University of Science and Technology. This gathering brought together high-level talent representatives from both Beijing and Wuxi, Jiangsu, for a significant partnership under the theme “Beijing and Wuxi Together.”

At the opening ceremony, Gao Fei, a member of the Standing Committee of the Wuxi Municipal Committee of the Communist Party and Minister of the Organization Department, shared some impressive accolades of Wuxi. He noted that Wuxi has been recognized as the country’s best city for talent attraction for five consecutive years and the best city for employment promotion for four straight years. Furthermore, Wuxi ranked among the cities in China most attractive to post-95 talent, earning a spot on the 2024 talent-friendly cities list.

Gao expressed hope for further collaboration, stating, “With numerous higher education institutions and abundant tech talent in Beijing, we look forward to more individuals joining us as partners for Wuxi’s open development, embarking on a journey of springtime efforts and autumn successes together.”

Wang Luning, Vice President of Beijing University of Science and Technology, also highlighted that in recent years, many graduates from the university have found opportunities in Wuxi, making it one of the most sought-after cities for their alumni.

Attracting talent through policies is crucial, and Tao Bo, Director of the Wuxi Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, detailed the development environment and support policies available for talent in Wuxi. “Wuxi comes to Beijing with sincerity and financial resources, prepared to offer five major packages to innovators and entrepreneurs,” he said.

Tao explained that Wuxi will provide funding and quality administrative services across five areas: teams of entrepreneurial talent, science and technology enterprises, new research and development institutions, and personnel engaged in scientific research. These initiatives aim to ensure comprehensive support for talent development.

Moreover, leaders from various municipal and district organizations in Wuxi stepped up to promote the city passionately, inviting talented individuals from all sectors in Beijing to collaborate for mutual growth.

Throughout the conference, a series of engaging activities enhanced the cultural experience of the event. The Campus Carnival featured a variety of Wuxi’s intangible cultural heritage and cultural projects, such as Huishan Clay Figurines and traditional bamboo carving, allowing students to appreciate Wuxi’s craftsmanship and cultural appeal. In addition, a taste of local cuisine, including Hongshan Crispy Wheat Cakes and Huishan Yellow Wine, provided a delightful culinary experience for the students from Beijing.

At the “Wuxi Talent” booth, university students could scan codes to receive customized merchandise like mugs, notebooks, and phone stands. To assist attendees in finding suitable job placements, the event featured career guidance, with HR experts conducting talent assessments and career planning, as well as offering policy advice and job recommendations.

The “Hundred Enterprises, Thousand Talents Campus Tour” in Beijing included a dedicated campus job fair and a premium recruitment event focused on master’s and doctoral candidates. The campus job fair featured over 100 employers, including 33 publicly traded companies, 16 state-owned enterprises, and several public institutions, offering nearly 3,000 quality job positions. Notably, there are 1,210 positions for candidates with master’s degrees or higher, spanning many industries, including electronics, equipment, renewable energy, biomedicine, and artificial intelligence, with some roles offering annual salaries of up to 800,000 RMB.

As the opening ceremony concluded, the enchanting melody of “Wuxi” filled the air, marking the official launch of the 2024 Wuxi “Hundred Enterprises, Thousand Talents” Campus Tour in Beijing.
