According to a report from the Korean Central News Agency on October 26, the Director of the Foreign Policy Office of North Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that “the United States will bear full responsibility for escalating the situation on the Korean Peninsula to a state of complete chaos.”
The official highlighted that tensions on the Korean Peninsula have intensified recently due to significant provocative actions taken by South Korea against the North. In this context, the U.S. military’s confrontational stance toward North Korea is becoming increasingly visible.
The statement noted that since October 21, the U.S. has brought the Australian Air Force to the Korean Peninsula for large-scale joint air exercises with South Korean forces, making it clear that the training is solely aimed at North Korea.
The nature, scale, and aggressiveness of the U.S.-South Korea military drills have become more pronounced, posing extremely dangerous military provocations.
Moreover, while conducting “joint aerial refueling training” and “joint river-crossing exercises” with South Korea, the U.S. is also engaged in large-scale naval exercises with Japan under the “Sword” initiative. At the same time, the U.S. has sent the massive nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Washington to the waters surrounding the Korean Peninsula, further exacerbating military tensions in the region.
North Korea views these hostile actions by the U.S. as a clear threat to regional security and a severe provocation, which they strongly condemn.
In conclusion, the official emphasized that if an unwanted incident were to occur on the Korean Peninsula, the responsibility for the resulting consequences would rest solely with the instigator of heightened tensions—the United States.
