On October 24, the establishment conference of the Specialized Committee for Ginkgo Industry under the National Food and Drug Homology Industry Technology Innovation Alliance was held in Taixing, Jiangsu Province. The event marked the unveiling of the committee along with the Digital Headquarters for the Ginkgo Industry in China.
The ginkgo tree, known for its medicinal and dietary benefits, possesses economic, ecological, and social values through its wood, fruit, leaves, and ornamental uses. Taixing boasts over a thousand years of ginkgo cultivation history, with an impressive annual production of 10,000 tons.
The newly formed Specialized Committee aims to integrate resources from universities, research institutions, and enterprises along the ginkgo industry chain. By establishing a unified and efficient collaborative innovation mechanism, the committee seeks to support the high-quality development of the food and drug homology health industry.
Taixing is placing a strong emphasis on the development of ginkgo products. The city is advancing the processing of ginkgo from primary agricultural products sold by the ton to value-added leisure foods sold by the pound, and further into high-tech products like biomedical materials sold by the gram. Since the 1980s, Taixing has focused on developing its ginkgo industry as a key part of its specialty economy. The modern agricultural industrial park in the city relies on this advantage to create a series of healthy ginkgo food products, including functional ginkgo beverages, soups, and freeze-dried items, laying a solid foundation for the professionalization, standardization, and scale development of the ginkgo industry.
