In a recent interview on ABC’s The View, Democratic vice-presidential candidate and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz criticized tech CEO Elon Musk’s $1 million daily giveaway, aimed at supporting Donald Trump. Walz described Musk’s initiative as indicative of a campaign that lacks substantive plans for the public.

Musk has proposed that registered voters in swing states can enter a contest to win $1 million a day by signing petitions for his Super PAC, which endorses “free speech and the right to bear arms.” This move has raised eyebrows among experts who question its legality, suggesting it may amount to vote-buying.

Walz remarked, “I think that’s what you do when you have no plan for the public,” when questioned about Musk’s giveaway. He elaborated, stating, “When you have no economic plan that’s going to benefit the middle class, when you have no plan to protect reproductive rights, when you have no plan to address climate change and produce American energy – you go to these types of tactics.”

As for the legality of Musk’s proposal, Walz responded, “I’ll let the lawyers decide.”

This appearance marked the second time the Democratic ticket found themselves on The View in recent weeks, following Kamala Harris’s announcement of a new “Medicare at home” plan, designed to assist seniors in affording home health aides without risking financial ruin.

In his typically engaging manner, Walz also took a light-hearted jab at Trump, saying, “one nice thing” is that “he will not be president again.” He even offered advice to Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance: “Just go in and order the chocolate doughnut,” referencing an awkward moment from Vance’s campaign.

Walz’s media presence has been prominent, with upcoming appearances scheduled on The Daily Show and recent discussions on Fox News Sunday. On The View, he appeared confident and optimistic, encouraging viewers to “Choose a future where you’re the center of it not Donald Trump,” proving his readiness to connect with voters as he continues to introduce himself to the nation.
